Body Con Dresses feature With Herve Leger Again
September 14, 2009 by Womens fashion Team ·
The term Bon Con dresses or “Body Concious” has been bandied around for the last number of years, but the brainchild behind this style of the dress is the French Fashion Designer Herve Leger, who in the late 80′s originally conceived the “bandage dress”, and so Bon Con dresses were unleashed upon the world. The distinctive “body concious” silhouette synonymous with this style which extenuates the female figure was all down to what has now become an iconic dress.
Not able to use his name professionally since Max Azria bought His label in 1998, the Herver Leger brand was relaunched in 2007, since then however Leger has done little to move away from the original body concious concept that led to his fame.
This week during New York Fashion Week, further evidence of this was demonstrated, as the only creativity employed by Leger appeared to be in the splattered-paint effect print which was apparent on a number of the dresses, and the shortening of the hem-line to mid-thigh length; everything else about the dress essentially remained the same. Lisa Armstrong of The Times put it very succinctly, referring to the design as “hooker chic rather than haute chic.” great phrase Lisa!
Devoid of any real inspiration and creativity, and trotting out the same old thing is perhaps complacent? But then again, perhaps Leger has every right to be, as it just shows the value of celebrity – why? Well Herve Leger has celebrities queueing up to wear a Leger Designed Bon Con dress on the red carpet with their tanned legs and Bulgari Jewellery, and that’s why the like of Mischa Barton and Hilary Duff’s were in attendance at his show, and no doubt why his latest design will be copied and marketed by all the popular high Street brands and will appear on your favourite fashion website during Spring Summer 2010.
To finish off, I refer back to Lisa Armstrong, who puts it ever so eloquently “These are hellishly expensive dresses, yet they are selling faster than diet pills. But then, they have a similarly slimming effect.”
Bon Con dresses are a style that have become ever so popular on the high Street too and you don’t have to spend hundreds of pounds to own one, To see more affordable versions of his body concious dress click the button below
Good things Come in Small Bundles
April 5, 2009 by Womens fashion Team ·
You know what they say about good things coming in small bundles? well as far as body shaped are concerned that’s true. Look at Cheryl Cole, she’s the perfect example of how to take advantage of her petite frame.
The key think here is to look taller, and that means making your legs appear longer.
Tops Empire line tops are just great for creating the illusion of longer legs. try fan and bow detailing to draw the eye upwards. To add some volume, go with flutter sleeves in bright block colours.
Bottoms You need to lengthen your legs, the best two ways to create this illusion is to go with dark trousers, and sneak a pair of high heels under them, but of you keep the shoes the same colour as the trousers, then that’ll do the trick. Second is go short with your skirts, minis and tulips are great! The more leg you show the longer your leg looks, ideal for the summer.
Dresses Again You’ve got a choice of how to wear dresses to your best advantage. Following the fashion of bold colours, go for simple dresses featuring at least two block colours, again this is ideal for your summer dresses.
You could also go for the ditsy print tea dresses which absolutely perfect for your frame, and give a really delicate feminine look.
Jeans Best shape for your jeans are bootcut or straight, these styles are shaped and will flatter your body most, but remember to go for maximum leg length with a pair of high sandals or heels to give you the height you require to best show off your profile.
Shoes and AccessoriesLike your frame, accessories should be small and neat, so for example, dainty clutch bags in bold colours are perfect. Try out a long necklace which adds symmetry and draws the eyes vertically down. As mention above, shoes are critical to give height, so high heels are good, but with skirts and dresses, strappy sandals are also good.

Cheryl and Posh in Dress row
January 17, 2009 by Womens fashion Team ·
Two of the most talked about footballers wives are at each others metaphorical throats all in the name of women’s fashion.
Yes, Cheryl the beatiful girls aloud singer with the Geordie accent seems to have a problem with the range of Women’s Dresses that Posh “designed” .
Mrs Cole Said that the range of dresses were for ” older women and not something that Girls Aloud would wear.”
Kimberly Walsh attempted to pour oil on troubled waters by adding “She means older than us!” But Cheryl insisted that none of the dresses, that sold out within days of going on sales earlier in 2008, would be in her wardrobe.
The pair who have been previously photographed together socially at footballing functions with beeming smiles as if the best of friends are starting to fall out fast.
Posh’s Collection got rave reviews upon their launch and helped get Posh back in the spotlight, but obviously Cheryl has got designs of her own and wants to be TOP WAG, the claws are out; MEOW!
